Mclaren MP4-30 Honda

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The pillars are already used as vanes. It's just a little fine-tuning

Can somebody tell if Alonso's 8 tenths behind RB is real or is RB holding back a lot?

Well, I don think they're holding back. We'll see what happens tomorrow after they make changes based on the stats they gathered today.

If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
It might have been the Hungry Grand Prix, where someone had mentioned that the rear cover with the bumps was a tighter fit. You could actually tell by looking a the hole in the cover for the rear suspension, more or less of the A-Arm was exposed and the placement of the hole/slot was different.
To me the engine cover never really looked tighter with the bulge on, but I don't know, any difference should be hard to spot.

Another theory is that bulge is part of a higher DF package. If the engine cover really gets tighter when the bulge is there, maybe it's to let more air through to the back to increase aero efficiency. And the engine cover without the bulge lets the air through more cleanly to reduce drag. But this one is really a long shot, I still stand by my first assumption.

It was pretty obvious in the pictures.

I agree, makes sense to me. I don't think it's a long shot.

Is this log-style or tubular? It isn't that black and white to me at it was on the Mercedes pictures of last year
