Honda motorsport boss Yasuhisa Arai has claimed that it is unfair the engine maker is receiving all criticism and has rebuked doubts that the Japanese firm could make enough of a step forward over the next winter to become competitive.
This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.

I wonder if he said the same to Montoya and Perez....
I think since 2005, McLaren has not been a very stable team for drivers. Montoya, Alonso, Kovalainen, Perez and Magnussen are drivers who drove for a year or two before being asked to leave.
McLaren dont like Nordic and Latin drivers.
I agree with all of you that sending an email is not the way to do the things. I dont give a XXXX if Ron later plays tribute to Magnussens´s work in McLaren if they have done this previously.

He did not even do it personally - his assistant sent that mail. It is not how you should handle a driver who sacrificed a whole year of racing for the team.

I'm not sure why we care how Ron told him. He has probably known since last year that if they re-sign Button the odds are against him. I'm not even sure why he would want to stay another year at McLaren and not ACTUALLY driver somewhere else.
I think a seat @ Haas would be good for him, don't think he's what they are looking for.
I would have gotten rid of all those drivers too (except Alonso).

Well, Mclaren is in the past few years a team that provides for both drivers quite equal terms. Alonso got completely destroyed by getting the same treatment as a rookie (Lewis). For me, his whistleblowing was one of the biggest shameful acts in the sport (07 incident). U never sink youre team. If the team says yelow its yelow, even though its blue. Especially because he got involved by another incident of cheating next year - crashgate... All other drivers u mentioned were just ordinary. Only Montoya really stands out. Only mistake in my opinion is drop of Magnussen. He at least should stay as a reserve driver number 2. But jet again F1 as a sport is to blame that young guys cant get a break at all. Because inseason testing is so limited they dont get the chance to practice and get the mileage they need to progress. And the team cant use them in preseason testing because they are not a reliable source of feedback, and the cars cant be modded for them and then passed to actual drivers. Having a driver only for a simulator is a waste of his time, time of the team and waste of his potential which he can use in another series if not in a F1 team.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

When Lewis returns to Mcl in 2018 Alonso will trash him.

Well to confirm my statement i must say that in mclarens case this year, when both drivers were one behind the other, noone experienced sudden loss of power on the straight, which lasted only as long as the number 1. driver was staying behind.
Maybe sometimes i see everything as a conspiracy theory, but i think i quite nailed this one

Here is a summary of recent Japanese media quotes, source is @Muramassa from Autosport Forums.
(on Alonso at Suzuka) You'd be mad if you get overtaken, so it's just natural to get hot blooded. When he says smth like that, we think "we have to increase performance", "we have to improve car", so. The team as a whole thinks "we've got to do something about it". [basically same as what he said in post race interview at Suzuka as well as to some foreign media/journos at Sochi]
Such remarks are nothing special actually, among the staff it was like "he's going at it again". (hearsay, info in article)
After Quali
(on Sochi) There is no undulation but there is similarity with Suzuka in high speed section.
For such limited running, we managed to put it together. Yet, this is where we are at atm.
Regarding deployment, absolute lap time is essential for quali, while defending your position is essential for the race, so deployment setting/mode defers quite a bit between quali and race. In the race, you have to make setting so as to not be overtaken even if sacrificing lap time, otherwise it'll be impossible to fight. In order for that, you have to leave deployment management, when/where to use it, to the drivers discretion to some degree.
After Race
Both drivers must have had tough time with worn out tyres in the final stage of the race, but they were concentrating on the race without saying anything, to the extent that you'd think radio had broken down. They are so exceptional in race management.
With such limited mileage/time, I think we managed to put things together well. It's not like we could overcome our issues of course, but we managed to adapt to the circuit as much as we could (within our limitation) by acknowledging/understanding our issues.
We had to make our drivers drive patiently. Even so, that they brought cars home is what has led to the result eventually, and we could have race like this thanks mostly to the drivers. I realized once again that they are such fantastic drivers. That we could score points, and managed to bring both cars to the finish more than anything, is quite an encouragement to the team and should lead us in good direction.
On PU
(on modifying ICE (combustion and exhaust) by introducing the remaining 4 tokens) Thank you for noticing the difference in sound (bw old one and new one) (laughs). In terms of PU overall, even though deployment issue remains, ICE side is maturing quite well. Combustion of ICE is an eternal theme, plus it's ICE that you'll have to continue improving in order to keep increasing the output even more after/when finally resolving deployment issue, otherwise you cannot win, so.
ICE is improving but ERS stays the same atm. ERS/deployment issue is interrelated with the whole packaging side of thing so that it's difficult/impossible to make changes to it this season. We know what the issue is and what to do with it.
the path for drastic improvement on deployment for the next season is clear within the team (heresay, info in article)
