Nice, hopefully some come over the Winter to shorten the wait until the First Tests a bit.

"I hear positive noises from the folk at Woking, but perhaps the most telling piece of evidence is just how keen Red Bull Racing was to get its hands on a Honda supply. I'm told that team boss Christian Horner was impressed by what he'd learned about ongoing development, and he clearly believed that it was a route worth pursuing."

Thanks for sharing.

However, I don't believe RBR was ever really interested in Honda's PU's, it was all a part of a larger political game, as hypothesized by Mark Hughes here: http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/f1/sh ... archionne/

To me, the most interesting bit of Alan Henry's article is this:
Mercedes told my colleagues in Abu Dhabi that its engine now achieves the same power as the last V10s of 2005. Significantly it does it at a fuel flow rate of 100kgs an hour rather than the 194kgs of a decade ago, when Kimi Raikkonen very nearly won the World Championship in a Mercedes-powered McLaren.
That is astonishing! Same power at half the fuel in just ten years. Long live the hybrids. You wonder why this achievement isn't being communicated with more vigor.

They can't give any information away about anything...... because they are scared..... their compeititor's will discover vital information ;)

I actually believe that this statement, "Mercedes told my colleagues in Abu Dhabi that its engine now achieves the same power as the last V10s of 2005. Significantly it does it at a fuel flow rate of 100kgs an hour rather than the 194kgs of a decade ago, when Kimi Raikkonen very nearly won the World Championship in a Mercedes-powered McLaren." Is misleading.

The conditions were no stated and for marketing purposes I wouldn't be surprised if the power he is talking about here is the power produced when the Merc PU is in qualifying mode, I.e. with the wastegate open and draining energy from the
ES to power the compressor. In other words not the self sustaining power levels that the PU is able to produce.

What was the range that was calculated for the power required to run the turbocharger if the wastegate is left open? Was it between 50 to 70 kW?

Mr. Andy Cowell is the one that stated the horsepower is similar to the V10's in a James Allen article. I think in the engine thread it was calculated to be 915 hp in qually mode based on Andy's claims og 10% more powerful than V8+KERS (830hp). This is still short of V10's in qually mode though. The honda and BMW V10 were 1000 hp. The Ferrari and MErc was around 970hp.

Ron knows the 2016 outcome well in his heart, too many straight questions for a champion winning team when chips are down.

The interviewer asked some really irritating questions just to obtain a strong headline to clickbait.

I've put this here as it's thinly team-related but doesn't need its own thread.

Button and his wife have split up in "amicably":

Bit of a shame and a surprise as they always seemed in public to be happy together.
