If this is true it would be awesome. Would love to see Lamborghini enter the game.

How ironic. A car company started after a worker was spited by Ferrari join a team that is currently spiteful of Ferrari. It's like the two were meant to be.
Friendship with Honda ended, Renault is my new (and more reliable) friend.

A VW in F1 rumor, I don't think I've ever heard of such a thing before.

I don't think I've read an article with so many, "possible's", "maybe's", "may use", "could be's", or "could end up with's" !

What a load of rubbish :)

“We have now secured a new and competitive engine for the 2017 Formula 1 season… It’s difficult for me to say at the moment, without being able to announce what our engine plans are, but I believe we should be in a better position, everything’s open. I think a lot of things are going to change.”

Wonder why he is so confident about an engine in 2017. Did Bernie promise on delivering the budget engine?

Apparently they are billing it as 'The coming together of the bulls'

It's a very, very obvious tie-in, if true...presumably TR would also get these engines...
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

It says technical partnership. Would that mean there is a PU being developed by Volkswagen Group?

I'm unsure how such a deal would benefit Red Bull. They would have a first generation VW PU vs the 4th generation Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault PU's. The performance gap would surely be immense.

It does not matter if they would be competitive in the short term. It would be a huge positive for the sport and Red Bull to get the VW group in.

VW group like Renault would want to win to promote there brands.
Unlike Renault they don't mind throwing obscene amounts of money at it.

I am anyway leaning more towards the budget engines rather than VW entering.

I also would like to understand if there would be objections from manufacturers and FIA (even if it is against the regulations) if Red Bull does develop certain parts of the engine. Given the current political turmoil within F1.

Illien on the Renault-PU in todays SonntagsBlick:
"Time is too short for a miracle. First of all we have to improve the efficiency."

oh...sounds not so encouraging. I hope this is a bluff ;-)

Looking back to Renault's decision not to take on the Illien-concept a couple of months ago was really a tough one in hindsight. Renault lost a lot of time to go their route and test it in Brazil, The outcome of that proved they should've opted for the Illien one.
But hindsight is easier than foresight...unfortunately.

Improving the efficiency directly hints at increasing the power. So that's not all bad.
What they may not be able to do is optimize other related systems as much as they would like in the short term.
Nevertheless, renault's biggest weakness was their combustion and Illien seems to be targeting that aspect.
For Sure!!

Hope the engine structure can handle the extra power.

Anyway does anyone have any details on why the pistons could not handle the power at the beginning of last year?
