2017 Dallara GP2/17 GP2 Series car and engine rumour

Post

The concept of Dallara GP2/17 GP2 Series 2017 car

Next generation Dallara GP2/17 GP2 Series 2017 chassis will replace current Dallara GP2/11 car since 2011 season because 2016 season will be final season of GP2 Series to use GP2 Series current chassis GP2/11.

GP2 Series engines in 2017 rumoured will be V6 turbocharged direct-injection engine powered by Mecachrome. 2016 season will be final season of GP2 Series 4000 cc normally-aspirated fuel-injected V8 engines who required since 2005.

I think GP2 Series will follow Formula One regulations about chassis and engines. I think hybrids will not introduced in GP2 Series because GP2 Series wants pure racing like IndyCar Series.

It will be good to see turbochargers in GP2 Series because GP2 Series wants new philosophy in 2017.

At the moment it doesn't makes sense to have hybrid turbo engine in F1 and natural aspirated engine in GP2, imo it's a good change.

i think Turbocharger in GP2 Series will be good but GP2 avoid hybrids despite next generation cars in 2017

The Hybrid would bring a nice, hefty price tag with it, and over the course of the last decade the lower tiers have seen some good cost reduction, I'm not sure where GP2 stands on this, though.

Post

Dallara GP2/17 Rumoured Concept Car Design

2017 GP2 Series season will be the introduction of the next-generation car called "Dallara GP2/17" along with new Mecachrome 2200 cc V6 turbocharged direct-injected engine.

2016 GP2 Series season will be final year of Dallara GP2/11-Mecachrome 4000 cc V8 normally-aspirated indirect-injected chassis-engine package because of GP2 Series philosophy.

GP2 Series 2017 will follow Formula One current regulations but GP2 Series will not featuing hybrids such as KERS/ERS. Lower noses will be rumoured in GP2 Series in 2017-2020. Exhaust will be single exhaust header with rear end exit like in Formula One. Dallara GP2/17 rear wing will be rumoured lower, similar to 2005-2010 car.
