"Explain the ending to F1 in football terms"
"Hamilton was beating Verstappen 7-0, then the ref decided F%$& rules, next goal wins
while also sending off 4 Hamilton players to make it more interesting"

Not F1 related but it means money for the company so it can benefit the F1 program.

Good luck to the Jaguar team.

Williams needs 'a triple improvement' - Massa
By Chris Medland, 24/12/2015 at 10:15 News, Williams Leave a comment

Felipe Massa says Williams has to improve three times as much as last season to be able to fight at the front in 2016.

Williams went in to 2015 with high hopes having finished third in the constructors' championship the year before, but didn't make noticeable progress compared to Mercedes and was leapfrogged by Ferrari in terms of pace. While Massa believes there were steps forward made, he says the team's similar level of competitiveness this year shows how hard a task it is to catch the teams ahead.

“We are fighting with the big teams," Massa told F1i. "We are fighting with teams that are bigger, they have a lot more money than what we have. We know that to beat these teams we need to do like a triple improvement from one year to the other and that is what we are trying to do.

“It is really difficult to understand 100% where we are going to be compared to the other teams next year but the only thing I can say is that the team is pushing very hard and working on points where we believe are areas we can improve.”

Asked if it is realistic for Williams to believe it can beat Mercedes under the current regulations, Massa replied: “I think it’s very difficult.

"For sure we want to be in the front but we know especially Mercedes are very far away so it’s difficult to answer where we are going to be but I hope we are going to be better than this year.”

I think he has a point, but right now Williams should stay and get results (and sponsors) on board.
Friendship with Honda ended, Renault is my new (and more reliable) friend.

What Damon is saying make sense. But first they have to build a better car !

But would Mclaren block it again? Or are they confident enough of Williams being inferior and/or Honda customers also get a less good PU package (e.g. Not the right fuel/lubricants) as the 'works' Mclaren.

Certainly wasn't as simple as just swapping over for RB.

Not aimed at the poster... just a general observation.

I don't see Honda operating supply any different to Mercedes or any other manufacturers.
From my observations each customer has their own workspace liaison in the engine suppliers factory.
This can be increased depending on investment from the customer.

So the onus is on the customer to develop software if they feel it inadequate for their requirements.

As for lubrications, I would assume identical between supplied teams. For Mercedes supplied teams, this is a contractual stipulation as revealed by Williams and Force India. From a logistics perspective it makes sense as having 2 differing lubricants would actually be more expensive to the engine producers.

My view is the difference lies in software, and there are avenues for customers to increase development with investment.

Williams didn't win the WCC because Mercedes blocked them, they didn't win because their car simply wasn't good enough. Sky F1's coverage is normally devoid of logic but it's pretty ludicrous to think they could win with a subpar engine when they couldn't win with the best.

Hill has his views, he's paid to express them. But he's plain wrong I agree.

All you have to do is look at the Williams chassis/aero performance at Monaco or Hungary to see that Williams lose around 3 or 4 grid slots when those parameters become more defining.

His point is clear, Honda would be equally happy if Mclaren-Honda or Williams-Honda won a race.
You can't say the same for Mercedes and Ferrari.

If Honda proves to be competitive in 2016 (i'm not betting many chips on that) it would be a good move.
