Haas 2016 car Ferrari speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I remember an interview with Ross Brawn being questioned about the double diffuser and his thoughts on whether it was a severe interpretation of the rules. He said that when the rules of the time were being written up, he warned that that style of diffuser was possible. No one listened and when the opportunity arose to develop it, they did. The other teams then had to play catchup. You could see by mid season that The others had caught up because Brawn had no budget to develop their cars.

Anyway, Brawn weren't cheating. Not even slightly.

I may have misremembered and you may be right, but I recalled Ross brawn saying he warned of the downforce figures still possible with the new regulations - and this was dismissed as untrue.

He didn't, I believe, warn of how it would be achieved, which is kind of different.

Anyway, it's still the same thing as the Ferrari/Haas thing: some people think it's a breach of regs but FIA have investigated and ruled it's ok.

I don't understand Ross Brawn on this.

The rules for 2009 was done by beginning of 2008. The engineers from super aguri who came up with the rule interpretation moved to Toyota and Honda mid 2008.

So when did Ross Brawn warn about the increased downforce?

Well this isn't the article/interview I was thinking of (actually supports what cmf1 said more than what I said) but took me two seconds to find on google:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsp ... 003667.stm
Ross Brawn, whose Brawn Grand Prix car is leading the field with its 'double-decker' diffuser, warned rival teams last season that the rules governing the rear of the car were open to interpretation.

<---------dons his flame retardant race suit and prepares for the haters... https://twitter.com/KurtBusch/status/691825924766056448 Is it a rendering? Probably, as there is very little front wing detail, but I looked at the other versions of the Haas demo/promo car (the Marussia) and its NOT that car.

Could this be close to the real one? Kurt Busch does race NASCAR for Stewart-Haas Racing.

Thoughts?

I'm afraid the nose is too beautiful to be the real deal. Rules require the front ends of the cars to be hatefully hideous (in more words). Also, the FW main plane is very crude... I'd like it, though

Wait, I think there's an FIA Sporting Regulation that says new teams have to show up to the first race desperately piecing the car together for the first time while FP1 gets underway. Haas messed it up completely. They're probably even forcing their mechanics to go home and get sleep every night. Crazy!!

They put the rear wing far too low, and the end plates the wrong way round...

That is a lovey fantasy car. As gridlock said, a lot of the parts don't really match. For instance look at the turning vanes at the front of the sidepods. The nose is too high and the front wing is something we'd have seen 5 years ago (the underchassis turning vanes too for that matter).

This is definitly not a scheme of the showcar. The showcar is as we know a Marrusia, but this tweeted image has different nose, front wing pillars, different vertical fin at the side intakes, front wing sides, and the rear has no coanda exhaust. There is even a Ferrari style cooling inlet on top.
