I can agree on not pure black, but I don't see how it's blue. Again, I'll wash my hands in "I could be wrong".Yurasyk wrote:Just compare nose tip (black carbon) and front wing flaps. They are not pure black for sure.turbof1 wrote:The car is matte black. The blue shine comes from reflections from the sealing lights. The heavy amount of spotlights used make it look like it has a Pearlescent finish. However, it is simply a matte finish: http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/wp-content/u ... very-3.jpg" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank
The black is used because it is actually lighter then colored paint. This is just another team in line that saves weight this way.

http://www.formula1.com/content/fom-web ... very-.htmlRed Bull have unveiled the colour scheme that will adorn the cars of Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat in 2016.
The new livery, which was revealed on an older car at a special launch event in London, UK on Wednesday, retains the team’s traditional colours of navy blue, yellow and red but with a matt rather than a shiny finish.
Based on a picture like this, I'd say you are right: https://twitter.com/redbullracing/statu ... 4210029568 However, based on the picture I showed I got the impression it's black or dark greyish. Furthermore, the whole room had blue lights: https://twitter.com/redbullracing/statu ... 1586526209 Not to mention the overalls are black and grey. I think atleast about that there is no discussion about that: https://twitter.com/pumamotorsport/stat ... 2707154944 I'm starting to doubt myself on this one though. Not that I suddenly see it more blue, but if that many people tell you it's blue, there's a high probability you can be wrong.Scuderia1967 wrote:It is blue, "but with a matt rather than a shiny finish". Infiniti was very prominent on last years overalls. It's more or less last years without Infiniti.superdowg316 wrote:Is it just me or have Red Bull lost a lot of sponsors from their overalls? Even Toro Rosso last year had the same sponsorship placement and they had more than them!
Anyone? The point is obviously to make the car as slippery as possible, doesn't matte finish give more drag?morefirejules08 wrote:What are the chances they will race with a matte finish paint job? I was under the assumption that gloss was used to improve airflow?
There's definitely a blue hue, very noticeable sound the S duct exit.gandharva wrote:I looked at your image and it's blue.
Skin friction drag is negligible at F1 speeds.MattSZ wrote:Anyone? I know. But look at both Max's and Daniel and Daniil's suits. Very similar.djos wrote:Max drives for TR, not RedBull.superdowg316 wrote:Is it just me or have Red Bull lost a lot of sponsors from their overalls?
