Williams FW38 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The car is missing rear brake ducts, or at least all the winglets on it and rear pull rod attaches way forward to the chasis :wtf:

EDIT: there is also no sign of the turning vanes under the nose. I can't wait for the pictures tomorrow to see if the cars has them or not (the same with the rear brake winglets).

Apologies, I was referring to this report:

F1 Analisi Tecnica - WILLIAMS FW38: l'analisi tecnica

and a couple other comments I saw elsewhere. I should have been more specific.

The upper wishbones appear to be at almost exactly the same height as last year. The lower wishbones look very slightly higher than last year, thus the upper and lower wishbones may be tad closer together now. Overall, I would say the amount of side-scrub per unit of vertical travel is probably quite similar to last year's car. If anyone has a clear opinion about anti-dive from the pics so far then you're doing better than me.
Unfortunately, I have to agree. I am impressed with their efforts in increasing over-all aerodynamic efficiency of the car, especially with developments in the rear-end of the car. However, I do not see how these developments are going to help in solving the issues with tyres not achieving the working temperature , somewhat high tyre wear and low-speed perfomance. I believe they know what they do and they have choosen the right development path. Just little unimpressed with seeing no considerable changes in the suspension layout.

Final 2015 model i think, the one on the launch was an older version.

The gearbox hot air exit is indeed closed and an "extreme" looking diffuser are the new bits.
