What does the sidepod fins do anyway, and how do the slits help?

As far as I know, just as most of the latest developments by F1 teams the sidepod vanes are used to direct/shape the airflow in order to help other parts either generate more downforce or decrease drag or improve cooling.

The shields direct air into the radiators at low speeds.

The slots relieve (bleeds) the pressure that backs up in front of the radiator at high speeds... They give the air somewhere to escape to.

i believe these are the various front wing angles that the teams change in order to find the optimum set-up.even under changeable weather conditions it helps setting the right wing angle to get the desired down force.

great pic though. :)

Probably measured in degrees from a pre set base line. ...Scarbs?
