Red Bull RB12 TAG-Heuer

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Sidepod air intakes remind me of the BGP001

Very tidy and a bit more undercut than past versions. A single lower front A-arm suspension member. Very tidy overall car.

Is the S-Duct exit just well-hidden, or absent?

ETA - seems like it could be what the TOTAL logo sits on?

Not necessarily. If there is a S-duct, it's closed off for now, but it can also be a bump in the chassis/crash structure/vanity panel to accomodate suspension parts.

It's a bump. Just like the one on VF16.

Is that bat wing a carry over from last year? It appears to be bolted directly to the tea tray

Might be a stupid question (sorry if it is...) but, are we sure RBR is running a 2016-spec Renault engine?

That looks a little too high on the monocoque to be an s-duct vent. However, an s-duct - with a new twist - will almost certainly appear at some point...

Of course, it could vent into the cockpit.

There definitely looks like some kind of vent in this photo above the 3

Ah interesting! They have changed the vanity panel. Compared to this picture:

The sensor pitot has been relocated and while the angle is more or less the same, you can definitely see it's closed on the latter picture. This tells me they are testing the benefits and disadvantages of a car with and a car without.

That's a picture of the RB11 from the tyre testing earlier this year.
