It's likely the new one will be introduced together with the rumored nose.





I think there's more slots on the edge of the floor(Ferrari style), but i'm not 100% sure.
Edit: Not to the degree some teams are taking this, but indeed there are extra slots

They basically have aero function from that body work around the exhuast area.
It can either function as a beam wing, or some kind of eductor to increase the efficiency of the internal flow through the side pods.

Why is this bodywork around the sidepod exits not illegal? I know mercedes run it too, but i was always curious why this is not against the 75 mm radius rule?

I don't know the detail of what that rule applies to, but it may just apply to sidepod volumes and stuff that's aft of the rear wheel centerline. The sidepod-exit beam-wing thing (hereby christened SEBWT) is inboard of the official sidepod volume and ahead of the rear-wheel centerline.

The FW38's rear end is still from the 36/37 lineage, just more extreme. I like it. Wonderful how they joined up all the different "bodywork legality volumes" to create a relatively unified whole. I still think there are some good details to see that are not coming out in the pics on this thread...
