My 2010 car too (Now with Renderings!)

Post

I've had a go at making a car for 2010 too. Enjoy.

It was made on google sketchup. I've uploaded it so you can all download/edit it yourselves. It would be great if you could post any modifications you make... kind of like an open-source car design.

Here's the link:

Thanks.

Cool man :)

Are the dimensions in the virtual rule boxes, or is an effort of visual appeal only?

Good detail in the rear around the diffuser.

Is there a way for Sketchup to render without wireframe as well? The polygons are make it hard to understand the sidepod shapes and what not.

Thanks for the feedback.

The dimensions were pretty much best guess as the regulations document is far too long and confusing for me to make use of it.

It is possible to render it without the geometry, but it tends to look even more confusing without it!

Anyway the model and sketchup are completely free to download and use so feel free to have a snoop around it properly.

So you used the basic version of Sketchup or the more advanced pay version?

I like it:D

Although i wouldn't like to crash it, the nose seems pretty low volume!

If anyone would like to 'paint' Sketchup models to photorealistic standards,I would recommend the Kerkythea freeware program. This will be a good place to start: http://www.alexschreyer.net/cad/renderi ... kerkythea/

I don't think that diffuser is allowed under the rules. I'm not all that familiar with them but I recall that you're not allowed see anything through them. I can't remember the wording but the jist is that you have to make it so you can't see sky (from underneath/in-front) or tarmac (from above/behind).

Can someone with greater knowledge clarify? Please

Good work so far =D> Open-Sourced forum car...this could work. The F1T car is a step closer

Thanks for the link, I'm rendering the pics now and will replace the original photos.

My understanding is that from beneath the car you shouldn't see anything other than floor or empty space... therefore no holes through which you can see body work etc. The floor itself must exist on either the step or reference plane and nothing apart from the vertical transition between the two. That's my understanding... though again, I haven't read the rules thoroughly.

Dear deus1066,
I am very interested in your project and I am impressed in what you have designed!
Is there any way that you could update the links to an old or new version of the CAD file of your F1 car?

Thank you in advance,
Dennisdn
