McLaren MP4-31 Honda

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It's just a heavily cambered wing design. Not that unusual.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Overall the chord of the front wing is towards the ground, the slot (first element is just that in the bigger picture) helps to energise the airflow on the bottom and back of the front wing (next section or element).

It looks like the front, lowermost, element of the wing is angled so the trailing edge is lower than the front edge. From my simple aerodynamics understanding, that would seem to me to produce lift and not downforce.

Can someone with more understanding explain this please.
It directs air under the wing, speeding it up and creating a low pressure area. For more information, type 'ground effect' on google.

Thanks DiogoBrand. It was the way I was looking at the picture it just looked like a downward slope, not a curve.

They had oversteer problems last year(Alonso hitting wall in testing was the first sign of it) and they have it this year so far and the more power seams to make it worse. Also the PU runs like it is a wild bronco trying to kick it's rider off. :D
