Extra tyres and elimination of more drivers with more time innbetween to allow pit changes. Like 2-3 drivers in a row.

My guess is that we are the 6th best team behind
1. Mercedes
2. Ferrari
3. Torro Rosso
4. Williams
5. Red Bull

We are on par with Force India. Going by McLaren's in season development pace, we should be able to beat Williams and catch up with Torro Rosso. End of the year we can end up being the 4th best team behind setting up for a good 2017
1. Mercedes
2. Ferrari
3. Red Bull

Also, current gap after FP3 is 1.6secs to Mercedes. I would have expected a gap of max 1.2 secs. Last year we were about 2.2 secs behind Mercedes. If we managed to recover 0.6 secs by fixing ERS issue, I would have expected minimum 0.4 secs more from PU and chassis.

I hope there is more to come in the coming races.

Don't be so quick to throw mud at the new qualy format, we got the 3/5 minutes of parked cars in the garage postponed, recall we had to wait some time before the cars were rolling out forthe final 3 minutes??

Whilst the format could be bad for various moments, not that much for the Q3 final minutes, Ferrari just said 'ok we haven't enough to fight them, let's save a set of tyre and blame the system'

What if Merc did 1-2 on the first run, Ferrari tries the second run but fails..you have Mercs fighting in the dying minutes

Q1 and Q2 were pretty exciting for the first 7 minutes, the rest was terrible.

The merc qualifying mode is great isnt it? lol .... would have loved to see the Ferraris and torro rossos do a second lap which more than likely would have been an improvement of their times set earlier. and a better indication of what the gap really is

Stop blaming the qualifying format. It was the same for everyone. THEY WERE SIMPLY SLOWER THAN MERCEDES.

Where are those asking for just gravel traps? Those asking for the one lap qualifying? If the aim of this format is to punish driver errors, that worked fine..not anybody's fault if you need three different runs to pass the cut

Old format, remove the 100kg/hr fuel limit in qualifying, we have a winner. Will be super exciting, we might have engine blowouts if teams push beyond limits. There is a penalty with engine life as well, the more you push.

- I expect Mercedes' investigation of Rosberg's slump of form, can a driver lose ~0,7 s of speed  ? No, must something with a car (brand new one), just like last season.

- In comparison to pre test prediction: Merc - - Ferrari - - - TR-FI - Williams-RB - - McL - Sauber - Renault - Haas - Manor - close enough. I didn't know Sauber was that broke.

- Still it's Australia so not exactly representative, probably flattered RB, McL, TR, Ferrari should be closer later, we'll see about race pace too.

This sounds great imho.

No qualifying!

Reverse championship order grid, 150km sprint race; pit if you like. Half points. Results provide order for the main race. Full points for that.

ok we all get it the driver you are a fan of is on pole so there is nothing wrong with qualifying from your view. i want to be entertained... i want all cars out on track in Q3 with new tires in the last 2 minutes of the session , engines turned up eeking out that last tenth trying to get on pole and if the driver i'm a fan of doesnt get on pole then i say he tried and the car wasnt fast enough or whatever not 6 out of the top 8 just saying bleep it if we go out to make a banzai run for pole we will have no fresh supersofts left so lets focus on the race. It also just so happens that 9 times out of ten most of the cars improve their times with their last flying lap because the track is continuosly improving and they find time frome where the sun doesnt shine i guess lol.
what was wrong with the last format?
