I think it's hard to gauge anything about McLaren's race pace from today's quali though, particularly on super-softs where speed gaps are exacerbated; let's wait until the cars are pounding round and round and on different tyres etc.
Yes that is good analisis, but from reaction Ron dennis and Eric boiller they are look like little 'suprise' at point Q2 when alonso get P3

A peculiar point was made by Ted Kravitz on his qualifying Notebook today, pointing out that Alonso's merchandise is no longer on sale on the McLaren store site. Perhaps it never was this year though, which suggests that he is either on the verge of leaving the team or, more likely in my opinion, has some sort of performance contract clause allowing him to bail out before a certain time should the car not be up to scratch. Certainly, that would back up Boullier's comments over testing about providing Alonso with "what he asked for".

He seemed pretty upbeat after qually though, so I don't think he's going anywhere any time soon.

I think McLaren will probably gain positions through the race. Any driver can do a fast lap, but it's through a full race that drivers like Alonso and Button should rise above the opposition.
Sorry if I'm bringing up an old subject, but wasn't McLaren gonna end their contract with Johnnie Walker for this season? What happened there?

Optimistic McLaren are well placed to get solid points in the race, Alonso is the best starter out there so he will gain at least 2 position's at the start. Button the master of tyre management and judging condition's.

To do something well is so worthwhile that to die trying to do it better cannot be foolhardy. It would be a waste of life to do nothing with one's ability, for I feel that life is measured in achievement, not in years alone. ― Bruce McLaren

The reason behind the delay could be the new sponsorships, that it is more logic than Alonso leaving, but Ted instead of focusing how mclaren has done on quali he prefers to bring alo leaving subject. Then when it is denied he will be wondering who stills bringing the subject to the media.

I think these idiots must either ask someone within the team directly or check if there is any official news from the team. Following tweet says it all.
https://twitter.com/TeamMcLaren/status/ ... 2824212480 People like Ted are trying to earn their money by continuously attacking McLaren and speculating about Alonso's future. Possibly McLaren should stop giving interviews to idiots like him. He mentioned last year that Alonso will quit and since then he has been singing the same tune.

After watching his 2016 analysis that Manor would be faster than McLaren, I realized his IQ level and understanding of the sport. He tries to project himself as being an expert by showing some photographs of cars and explaining how those aero parts would be working. The moment he starts making stupid claims about McLaren and Alonso, he stands exposed in front of the world.

People like him are better ignored

Thankfully, Alonso is fine. Though after this incident, he will have 1 less engine and gearbox for rest of the season. I am sure looking at the accident footage, every single thing in that car has got damaged beyond repair.

Haas team scoring points on debut has to be a shame for McLaren. Yes, one would say that this has to do with bad red flag timing and bad call to put SS on Jenson's car, you still expect an experienced team to perform better than a debutant.

Hopefully they would look at all the data, fit in some new parts and we will be better off in the next race

The top speed doesn't look that bad...Hopefully more updates are in the pipeline from Honda.
