Scuderia Ferrari SF16-H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It doesn't, no. That's why there's talk of reliability. It would make sense to have it maxed in quali and de-tuned in the race.

Everyone runs max power in Q3 at all times, unless there's other problems at hand. You never know when a yellow flag will wreck your run. Stop talking nonsense.
So you no for a fact that Ferrari was running Full power in Q3?
Stop assuming nonsense!

Yes and they have not even added any serrated bits yet, they will surprise this season!

Rumors from Italy suggest that new aero kit is ready even before Melbourne (thx to hass partnership)but ferrari didnot want to introduce due to insufficient wind tunel data .most probably they will be introduced in next cpl of races and they will have enough data to prove that it is out from Marnello facility..

So you're saying it's nonsense to assume teams run max power in Q3 if they possibly can? Because, you know, if there's a time suitable to run it, surely it's Q3? No? Silly me then.

No, didnt mention tires. It was about qualifying, and the fact that Merc had alot more in disposal on engine side.

Skysport expecting Ferrai to be more competitive in Bahrain.
And also note, that Merc engineer think Ferrari run underpowered PU compared to testing in Barcelona.

forgot where i read it but they said the Pu settings were conservative just like last year and they will run the PU to its max ability come Bahrain just like they did last year.
Haas also said during testing that ferrari was too conservative as far as the Pu was concerned... guess we will see what Bahrain brings

   Yeah right. Idiot kimi, who asked him to throw the butt of cigarette into air intake after smoking it.
Just like some idiots blamed Lewis for the car failures of 2014, which was clearly recognized by Mercedes as reliability issues and worked towards eliminating them, which resulted in such a strong showing for 2015 in terms of reliability.

"I think I broke something"

These were Kimi' words when informing the team about the issue. It looks like he didn't manage something correctly with the PU and hence the subsequent failure.

I don't think Ferrari have given a reason as to why Kimi had to retire. Also I didn't hear Ferrari instructing Vettel to take it easy on the PU front if they had suspected a similar issue to occur in his car.

So it looks more like a driver error than the PU going bonkers by itself.
