Not only the rib injury is affecting him, but a minor pneumothorax also went unnoticed at the first medical check...

Please do not mix things, you can compete with a broken bone in a hand or foot, but not with a broken rib. Well you can, but you shouldn´t. A broken hand can´t kill you in case of another big accident, but a broken rib can if it punctures a lung
Colin Edwards competed with bruised ribs a week after also breaking his collarbone in 2011 and finished 3rd but that's the only real example I can find of someone competing with an injury to ribs in recent motorcycling times.
I know it´s probably my fault as I asked for examples, but it was more of a rhetoric question. Driving a F1 car and riding a bike are very different things, even if it´s a MotoGP.
Andres125sx wrote:Luckily for him his chest and broken ribs didn´t need to hold his body weight multiplied by a factor of 5, like F1 drivers on each braking point
Imagine (if you weight 80kg) applying a pressure of 400kg on your chest when you get a broken rib. That´s what a F1 drivers will support on each braking

Comparing motogp with F1 is comparing aples to oranges

I feel bad for Alonso and I'll miss him, but that is an excellent opportunity for Vandoorne. I want to see what he's capable of.

the seatbelt is not the only thing putting pressure on the driver when he brakes. There is also the pedal force and the driving wheel that helps dissipate the energy. 400kg of force distributed on the area of the seatbelt, put on your chest every braking is just crazy. But I'm sure it is still a lot though

You have a source for that?
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Button is in P3 in FP2! Wow! Still 1 sec off HAM in P2, but pretty amazing jump in performance if it continues through the weekend. 30 minutes to go in FP2.

Has Honda finally turned the corner? Anyone got any speed trap data apart from the top 10's posted in twitter?

The PU seems to be on par with the 2015 Ferrari. Considering how Ferrari was lauded for improving the PU on the 2nd year, Honda deserves some praise too.
Bad news is that Renault seems to have made a step forward.

I think Honda is still in the process of turning the corner, I'm still nervous about their reliability.
