From 6gb to 8gb of RAM is required during meshing: an hardware with less than 12gb will probably need to swap

I take it that the wheels haven't changed from 2015? The cfd_parts only has step and stl files that aren't compatible with SketchUp.

My current plan is to print out the bounding boxes with the wheels and then draw around the image with my desired shape and then scan in the image and trace it in SketchUp. Hopefully this will prove less frustrating.

They should be unchanged (not completely sure, but almost sure).

I did not understand your plan.

But doesn't the 'allowed bodywork volume' file have a sketchup version? Won't this save you the hassle?

The front wheels are slightly narrower for 2016, but the width of the front wheel cut-outs in the bodywork volume are unchanged.

The 2016 wheels in .skp
Will need a few faces filling in as I had to import in to Blender then save as .dae to import

Can i use this too? Since importing .stl into sketchup takes absolutely ages

I have printed out the dimensions file from front, top and side. The paper I am using is thin enough so I can see through the paper and use the underlying volumes as guides.

Rather annoyingly the front view is wider than the top view so I need to do a bit of scaling when I come to importing these into sketchup but that shouldn't be too much hassle.

The allowed body work does but does not actually have the wheels visible - just the arches.

Matteo - I believe he is using the method people use to create 3D models for video games, but they normally do it with the blueprints.

I don't know if it is worth it.

Why wouldnt it be worth it?
If it means he can create the model he wants then surely thats worthwhile?

It seems quite difficult to do, but it is a matter of personal taste. Everything is ok, the important thing is the final result.
