whats surprising is that Hamilton changed his gearox AGAIN... must have damaged his in his collision too.
where did you see this? I wonder how that works out regulations wise?
at the bottom of the article linked by GPR-A kind of a wierd rule i suppose because he gets no penalty for changing it again.

GoranF1 the beginning was vey funny..then it became quite pathetic, but that's your opinion and your are entitled to it and to express it in almost any form

Lewis Hamilton is also having a new gearbox fitted but, because he replaced one in Shanghai and took a penalty there, he is allowed a new unit this weekend without punishment
Odd. Maybe it's the old gearbox, and was fixed? I admitt it's difficult, anyway they should have specified

Looks like Honda still comes up short with MGU-H harvesting because there's more than enough braking here to charge 2MJ.
I'm not sure how you are calculating that. This is one of the worse circuits for MGU-K harvesting, similar to Silverstone. 10% of the lap under braking 10.3 seconds, 1.2 MJ potential recovery, probably around 0.6 achieved.

Apologies. The animation you post makes no mention of braking energy however I was prompted to dig a little deeper and find some different figures.

The circuit identity card for Sochi 2016 ( https://www.instagram.com/p/BEydo5kEwKG ... rembobrakeshows braking duration at 19% of the lap. That makes max potential energy recovery 2.4 MJ. So I guess it depends how much of that you think they actually manage to recover. I base my rule of thumb (50%) on figures from magnetti marelli at Monza.

Just for info Brembo have taken down their info cards from their site, or at least I can't find them.
The 2014 card is here http://www.research-racing.de/gp014-russia4.pdf and has the 10% figure. Anybody know where they are nowadays?

From what i've read in reviews, Mark is pretty complimentary towards Seb. I think you should get real and stop ridiculing him. Seems like sour grapes since your own favorite team and driver, Mclaren/Alonso aren't winning at the moment.

Yes, old one but not the same or two new ones for one damaged? :-). Gearbox rules are weird anyway. Example: two drivers collide, identical cars and gearbox damage, they continue, one has a great race 12 points, one is running 11th they retire him on purpose, one gets grid penalty.

About Vettel: penalty is self inflicted.

They probably wait with changing the PU's untill the current ones have done the planned mileage. I would guess that would be at Canada, where you need a fresh well performing PU.

So they need 2 runs for a single hot lap in order to get SS tyre to the right temp ...
What impact has that on the qualy?
And Vettel`s qualy strategy might be to position himself towards an 11 grid place for a free tyre choice, hence a soft one?
So he could do the same thing in Q2 as Rosberg did in China, qualify with a soft tyre?

This is the reason Hamilton is allowed a new gearbox;

23.6 For the purposes of this Article only, an Event will be deemed to comprise P3, the qualifying practice session and the race.
a) Each driver may use no more than one gearbox for six consecutive Events in which his team competes. Should a driver use a replacement gearbox he will drop five places on the starting grid at that Event and an additional five places each time a further gearbox is used.
Any replacement gearbox will only be required to complete the remainder of the Event in question.
Unless the driver fails to finish the race (or is unable to start the race for reasons other than a penalty imposed by the stewards) the gearbox fitted to the car at the end of the Event must remain in it for the remainder of the six race sequence.

From 2016 tech regs.
