McLaren MP4-31 Honda

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

EDIT: it's back on the car now.
Alonso set his fast lap whit new wing......his last attempt was whit old and he was 0.5 slower....so why give wing to Jenson?

I tried to compare the qualy times from 2015 to 2016. This is what the statistic says:

Average Improvement (both drivers, average improvement over Q1 - Q3:

FI - 3,823
RB - 3,550 sek
McL - 3,417 sek
Merc - 2,999 sek

Interesting, although I think this is OT here.

They only have one, and they are giving the new pieces in order, last time was Alonso receiving the new parts this time was the turn of Button

What worries me is to see the car still having reliability issues.

Whenever you introduce change, you're gonna increase the chance of reliability issues. The more change the large the chance....All the teams that used double digit tokens in the off season have had reliability issues.

Let's just hope that whatever failure they had is related to the fixes they're testing in Spain this coming week...
Sasha said Testing turbine and ERS upgrades(no tokens) in Spain.

They are pushing the engine i think, so they are concentrating on performance wich is very good i think.
Turning up the power, and then see what breaks.
Far far better then last year =D>

I'm not sure Honda is THAT much worse than the rest of the field in terms of PU reliability now.

Mercedes (perceived to be the most bullet-proof engine out there) have had multiple failures on Hamilton's car and some gremlins on both Force India cars this weekend, Ferrari have had failures on both factory cars (Kimi in Aus, Vettel in Bahrain) as well as Verstappen in the Toro Rosso in Russia and Renault have had a couple of issues here and there too.

Not to say that Honda is in any way "reliable" yet, I would just argue that none of the engine suppliers seem to have cracked reliability so far this year and be any more or less reliable than each other so far this year.

The lap times of the race of Sochi and Barcelona. The Mcl-Honda's lap time pace had become slow at Barcelona.
Barcelona circuit is where efficiency of the aerodynamics is important. I think Mclaren MP4-31 was draggy and less downforce car.
We Japanese wants not only McLaren but also other teams to carry RA617H on board.
