Was watching qualifying on Movistar+ and heard the announcers mention it, so I just wanted to be sure I wasn't hearing things.

Here it is on Autosport:

Renault bids to re-sign Ferrari F1 technical director James Allison

Well... "James Allison has made it clear he is fully committed to a future to Ferrari, sources at Maranello have revealed".

Denials mean nothing in F1, especially from Ferrari staff.

Would clear the way for Ross Brawn.....

It would make some sense if Allison was wanting to be involved with an English based team after what happened in his personal life this year and the fact he's stepped back a little.

Not sure why Ross Brawn would want to come back. He's done it all really, took a midfield team to championships, brought Ferrari championships again and even won championships with a car bearing his name and also built Mercedes up to become champions. Unless he wants to beat a team he built with another team he's built up, I doubt he'll return, especially being out of F1 for three years.
Friendship with Honda ended, Renault is my new (and more reliable) friend.

Or it leaves Merc as an option for Dan. Replacing Nico if he fails again to win WDC this time (which is quite likely imho) That would also be a very interesting combination.
Although Lewis might not like it so much.
But with Dan being a very unpolitical nice guy at least from a team perspective that would be a good fit. And Toto should be able to manage Lewis and Dan. So: Why not?

After the Canadian Grand Prix, i think Kimi needs to go.
He has done his time and he is washed up.

Ferrari need a Sergio Perez right now or a Romain Grosjean to partner Sebastian. They need more fighting spirit and more youth in the next seat.
In fact.. if they even had to go back to Felipe Massa i wouldn't mind!
For Sure!!

The same here. It seems that he needs to be closer to his family after the passing of his wife. It has sense to me.

By the way, the are some rumours that Renault could have a serious interest in Sainz.

I think Kimi did a good race but his performance was seriously compromised by a strategy that didnt work.

That Renault, in their plan to be back on the podium in 2018-2019, would talk to a few very highly regarded developing drivers is not more then logical. It almost would be news if they didn't :P

It could be a good bid for him! Plus, from a not too sure future with RedBull into a works team.

The only guy Ferrari can consider for Kimi's replacement will be in following order. Lewis or Ric or Sainz or Ves. Anyone other than above is just an ordinary. If only if Ferrari wants to win.

Lewis only if Lewis wants to win in a Ferrari.

If they put enough money this could be an interesting choice for Sainz. And he will be treated fairly if he joins the project at this early stage.

I am quite confident about Renault´s PU but what about the chasis and aerodinamics. Who is on charge of this? is the staff enough good? Allison would be a great addition if the rumours are true.

I must say, Rosberg isn't making his contract negotiations any easier for himself.

Wolff/Lauda to Rosberg: "so, first you make a mistake, then you push your teammate off track and now all I hear is "but Lewis""

Rosberg: "yes, but Lewis...."

All hackling aside, I can imagine this puts a strain on him, the Mercedes management doesn't look like they are easy and/or gentle negotiatiators.
