Just watched this, terrible circuit.
I have an idea, a challenge for you, or kind of an experiment if you'd like to put it that way. Itis that, on the basis of your observation of this circuit being terrible, you don't watch any sessions at all this weekend. No FP, Q or Race.

It's just like if you walk into a shop and see some food that looks terrible you don't buy it. You buy some different food instead that doesn't look terrible. This weekend's F1 is the same kind of choice.

Of course if you accept I'll just have to take your word on it that you don't watch, but I'm curious :)

Williams Bottas going fastest on his 16th lap on softs very interesting but very early days. For such a long lap degradation doesn't seem terrible though
All in all looks like the racing will be spectacular (and have to be precise) around here
- I agree, weird mixture but looks nice, except for small parts (narrow place is narrow :-) ) it's not as extreme as expected, we'll see about that on the first lap
- about low deg: surface, maybe temperature can force some pitstops

Problems for Verstappen. They need to change the gear box.

Alonso fourth, hahahah. Quite surrealistic.

No big incidents until now, drivers are being cautious, quite logic.

350 on a street circuit is insane. That is faster than Monza

Anyone think this race is a guaranteed SC?

I think even quali will be high drama.

Imagine rain on this circuit! Though I know none is forecast

I guess video game experience doesn't count for much Ricciardo, is the first one in the wall.

Hamilton is the guy exploring every cm and more, has had more offs than anybody, but he seems to concentrate his efforts on areas were there's scape.

Only Mercedes on SS's, good performance by Bottas on Softs.

Maybe that's why Hamilton was exploring this corner entry few laps ago ! Anyway we will probably see another driver on this wall before the end of the weekend... Right rear exploded

Finally we get a proper circuit with real risks and rewards to test the drivers, and all every one is doing is saying how dangerous it is. :wtf:

Sainz was close too but nothing important has happened. All in all it has been a quite normal sesion.

The time spread was a bit larger than normal, I thought, but let's wait until FP2 and we get some more qualifying simulations.

fp3 is Q simulations usually.
fp2 is mostly used for longruns, but in general if team feels confident it has its Q simulations mixed somewhere in all of this, so to not give others clue about their speed.

GP2 quali cancelled after 90 secs or so due to a track inspection. Seems to be an issue with kerbs, apparently there were a few damaged F1 cars in FP1 due to them.
Re-scheduled to after FP2
