After half of Britten is stepping down, isn't it time for Bernie to follow suit? :P

I would love to that. He does deserve a second try.

Definitely agree. I rank him on Grosjean's level. When they were in F3 together in 2007, they were title rivals throughout the season with Romain winning the championship in the final round. But then again, I don't want to see Jolyon kicked out of F1 after just one season. He's a rookie and is continously improving and I think he has potential. You don't become a GP2 champion without having some talent.

That is a rather sober thought.

I really would like to see BUE in the Renault but I think it will be Kvyat and Magnussen in 2017.

Crazy would be the return of good old MAL.

That's not crazy, that's idiocy :P

But, I don't now what the ambition of Renault is in 2017, what I've read they are more busy with 2018 and beyond, a promotion of the Formula E and WEC champion could mean a boost for both series and politic wise, it's never bad to be friends with the FIA.

Buemi who hasn't driven F1 car for what 4-5 years is on Grosjean's level #-o ? Just because 'you rank him'? I won't even bother asking basis of this ranking because it doesn't exist. I will only say that 2007 was 9 years ago and this is 2016/17 and F1. Having said that I rank Buemi on Hamilton's level.

After selling Wehrlein as some next big thing through sponsored promotion after one or two half-decent races (against Haryanto) I thought nothing would surprise me. Buemi hasn't had even a small fraction of any Grosjean's confirmed driver characteristics (Q speed, racecraft overtake, race speed, tyre etc.) and on track achievements.

I think that Buemi's name in media was only Red Bull's way of mocking Renault's (rumoured) interest in Sainz. It's not a sane option. About Renault: "Vasseur appointed team principal..." http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/vasse ... re-796066/ Corporate mumbo jumbo language aside it looks like:
- vote of confidence to Vasseur and a different title. So no more Autosport leaks by team principal wannabes.
- Abiteboul closer which (hypothesis) means less of Bell? I thought this whole Viry and Enstone together part was his.

Have you ever heard of an opinion? Yeah, maybe you don't agree with what I have to say, but I'm still entitled to an opinion. Let's just let bygones be bygones.

I still think that the line-up change in Renault will come in 2018 with the arrival of Sainz and another driver. But perhaps Magnussen will remain, who knows.

Youngest ever DTM champion, yeah? That guy? There's a reason Mercedes want him.

I don't know when you joined these forums, but I've come up against you several times before, and all you seemingly want to do is argue and be critical of anything that conflicts with your opinion.

- Write about F1. Having different strong opinions is normal, lying and personal attacks (like yours) are not. Reference is reality and not your personal preferences
- We're talking about single seater achievements. Wehrlein has none. Clinging to one point as some kind of proof and ignoring all the other races is weird even in F1's media world. Perhaps he underperformed in previous ones? Didn't follow that closely (circumstances?) but Gutierrez finished what 0,5 s behind him? No one fainted.
- Nasr scored 10 in his 1st F1 race the fact that he wasn't immediately promoted into Mercedes seat baffles me to this day ;-)
- DTM means nothing. Name other 5 recent champions/opponents and their F1 qualities. Youngest - the same. Don't you think that there were many drivers more deserving of an F1 chance? They don't put them in GP2 (RB, Merc) for a good reason, myths of talents would quickly disappear there. ATM he's a marketing pay driver to sell Mercedes "class whatever" cars (age, nationality). None of the basic F1 driver qualities of his are even slightly proven against some benchmarks (Haryanto).

Sponsored promotion part:
A. I can't find this damn article (later edit) but after 2-3 races within +- 0,2-0,3 from Haryanto autosport put this "might be Merc next big thing?" piece that should have sponsored by Merc AMG label.
B. Sky blokes are I think contractually obliged ;-) to mention his name in a positive context that stretches fabrics of reality, examples:" he's running in the points!" (...hmm, because everyone pitted, finishes ~13th with DNFs) or "the first race he didn't gain places at the start" nonsense like that all the time.
C. F1 official "Pascal Wehrlein: Just how good is Mercedes' new star?" That was February. Not Mercedes, not a star, thank for "?" I guess.

And then he goes and finishes P10 in Austria in a Manor, almost beating a Williams in 9th.
Yeah, he is useless! #-o
He is better than Britney in my opinion. Think Wolff should rather give the 2nd Merc seat to him next year. (Probably hit a nerve there..) Image

I also do have some slight question marks about Wehrleins real speed, but, I've only seen him in a couple of races in a Manor (like everybody else here). I haven't seen the data from the sim, or all track data. I also wasn't able to compare all this data with data gathered by his peers. Where I also have limited vision on is how well the Manor cars are and what kind of issues they had in their maiden year as the current team. The rate of development as a driver, one of the key factors in scouting racing talents, is also one of the things I don't have an eye on.

There are a few people who do have this data, some of them decades of experience with drivers and the spotting of talents.

The Manor hides his speed a whole lot. Even Ricciardo didn't seem special in that HRT.

Ricciardo didnt seem special until he arrived to RB. Even in TR he was not that good IMO.
