McLaren MP4-31 Honda

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Very detailed Front Brake Ducts. They are now close to RB as far as stability under braking is concerned :D :D

How do you know if they are close to RB in terms of stability under braking? Would you share the source please? or is it just a wild speculation? If it just a speculation I would like to throw one too. McLaren is not anyway close to RB in any specific component let alone the whole package.

Oh please, why start a rant? Drivers having been commenting on the stability under braking, just an example:

http://www.skysports.com/f1/news/24180/ ... gp-circuit

It's a field the chassis is good at, it's a field the RB chassis is probably best at, and others are worse at. So his saying makes sense, or were you expecting 'stability figures' in a comparison table? This is a technical forum, not a court, we don't have much evidence.

Not necessarily related to braking stability, but when you consider the brake duct assembly McLaren is light years more advanced than Ferrari, for example.

RB has been renowned for being the best under braking for years now !!

Mclaren was terrible with their Very Stiff suspension from 2011 to 2014 (2012 only so so) !!

Has improved a bit in 2015 and improved dramatically in 2016 with PP joining with the help of Matt Morris !!

1. Red Bull RB12

The Red Bull is definitely the best chassis on the grid now.

The RB12 is peerless under braking, super-stable at high-speed and particularly strong at entering and transitioning through the slow stuff.

It would win regularly with Mercedes power.
It is also quite visible when watching it on TV :D :D

Of course it works with the Suspension and Aero !!

I fail to see how the RB12 being very good in that regard automatically means the McLaren is good in that regard as well

There have been a lot of winglets since quite some time. There might be more though, it's just that we don't get to see many pictures from that angle (front of the rear).

Well regardless of performance, at least in my eyes, it's easily the best looking car on the grid followed by Haas then STR.
