Actually from this video it does kinda seem like he was lifting after the first left as well. You can see the flashing light by his left hand on the steering wheel, and by the time he gets to the right hander the flashing stops and he's full throttle again. Worth a look at telemetry by stewards by Merc can probably prove he's ok.

TBH having Nico ahead makes tomorrow better, I think Lewis would drift into the distance otherwise.

As far as I can tell his big lift was at most 2500 rpm. How much do they normally lift in that corner?

I don't personally have anything against them. But I wouldn't get too excited as it's behind a Toro Rosso. Let's not even talk about Mercedes, Redbull and Ferrari. On a downforce track. That had mixed conditions.

Hardly near top of the class. As you have clearly used this qualifying to gauge their chassis according to your comments... then I agree it's a middle of the pack chassis..

McLaren would have outqaulified the Torro Rosso they didn't get a second lap! If your going to tag on to this convo then read the whole thing since it was me ridiculing him for thinking this qaulifying would show the chassis hierarchy of all the cars when such a comparison is silly if they don't even have something as basic as the same engine/power in them.

I'm not interested. But you seem to know a lot, including what lap times cars would do that didn't finish their laps or get another run, even when they didn't or couldn't even finish their lap.

Slower than the RBR in S1 (only part resembling a power part), pretty bad honestly, he possibly would've ended behind them if everyone got their laps through.

Erm..he did actually lift, and also got held up in the last sector, so you can't really say that for sure. I say he would have been P3 at worst.

This is especially important after Jules Bianchi's death under arguably similar controlled speed circumstances after an accident on a track that was not dry.

Vettel maybe could have passed Verstappen because the dutch passed after red light, so he couldn't do any more time lap. Ricciardo was faster than the German in S2 thou
