Folks, I recommend you watch the onboard lap in high quality, and focus on his strong wheel. As he enters the yellow segment, there is a flashing led above his left hand. Listen to the engine while looking at the light, you can see it just after the left, and it goes out just before apex of the next right. Very hard to discern any amount of lift except for the initial bit prior to the left.

Actually it appears the only lighting he did at all was just BEFORE he even got to the first yellow.

I don't have a problem with Rosberg being allowed to keep pole, thank god the situation wasn't reversed and it was Lewis going purple under yellow. :)

Nico hadn't passed it, he got yellows before turn 8 and 9, Alonso spun at the exit of turn 9.

That's a question that has no answer. A lift is a lift, how are you supposed to know the difference between a 5 tenths lift and 2 tenths lift in real time?

The drivers have stated several times that the wheel tells them how up/down they are compared to previous laps in real time.

Does it tell them how long to take there foot off the gas too? Comon this is just a steering wheel not a JARVIS from ironman

Then he surely would have been to send to back of the grid, and we wont have had these discussion :D
He could have taken the engine penalty here then :P

What if it is drying circuit that is getting faster and faster? The lap time being faster alone does not mean a driver did not lift.
The only way to judge that is from the telemetry of the car.

Problem is that it's highly dependent on track location. His lift was before two slow corners, and the second didn't lead into any kind of straight. For this reason you can't define it using a time loss.

As i saw it, yelows were only on for that fraction of a second and he fulfilled that fraction, from than on there was no yelow anymore and as i understand no need for slowing down or being 0.5sec slower. U can see it at 0:50 on F1.com: http://www.formula1.com/en/video/2016/7 ... _2016.html
The yelow was not on long enough to count as a whole sector.
There were double yellows even after the corner!

Well spotted, i missed the second mark.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows
