McLaren MP4-31 Honda

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Not a chance against Force India at singapore, you know Force India is a TRACTION BEAST around Street tracks right?? and singapore commands a premium on traction moreover than aero.....

I am sure after fine tuning this new PU and Mclaren new aero package FI will fall in Singapoure.

Honestly I think FI is out of reach. Real question is whether they can close 60 points on Williams for 6th in the rest of the season

But Force India was nowhere near in Hungary and usually teams tend to have similar performances in those two tracks.

Hungary emphasis more on aero performance than outright traction, and Hungary is traditionally a weak circuit for Force India where there are so many medium speed corners, FI always does well in Stop-go circuits

Or are they just trying to reduce airflow into those inlets?

You could be right.

Usually they use tape to reduce the opening, with could affect the drag in a bad way. But these look like aerodynamically shaped blockers. Good spot.

This Monza rear wing is the lowest I have seen in the McLaren. Could it be that finally they can afford to run so little downforce?

The wing they had last year was pretty similar. All teams have crazy monza wings.
