Good point, I don't think it is a slot, but rather a spooning-out of the inside of the wing. Looks like something you'd do to save weight; with no slots in the endplate, the plate is structurally stronger and hence some material can be removed, preferably as heigh as possible to lower the CoG as well.

It looks to be the same wing, just repainted with current livery. Often times Monza-spec aero packages are reused for successive years, especially rear wings since they are end-of-the-line aero devices which don't need a lot of retuning for the current car, if at all (again given it's Monza spec).

At a first look, I got the impression that only the left rear wing endplate features slots:


But it's been an optical illusion:

Those endplates look like they've cut a "regular" endplate. That rounded section on top looks like the bottom of the louvres, and if you look at the image you can see what looks like the fillings on the hollow section of the CF.


It's hard to think Red Bull would do such a bodge job, but by the looks of it it almost makes sense.

So true. Nobody else is capable of making less downforce by reducing the overall size and angle of attack of the wing. Such genius on the part of RedBull. Will anyone else figure out the secret?!!!!!

The whole rear end of that car is a masterpiece. The wing, rear body work, suspension all look similar to how the car was on the old v8 red bulls.

How they are that close to Mercedes is just amazing. Ferrari must be wondering what to do next.

The shiny parts that you are referring to as "fillings" are actually the wing mounting pieces. They are created so pieces can be changed and changed the position and angle of attack of the wing without actually having multiple different rear wings.
