Overall, fairly boring.
That isn't actually what happened- the Ferraris had 8 lap old tyres by the time Mercedes switched to the mediums and seb was actually keeping pace with Nico during that period.zeph wrote:Mercedes wrecking crew.
That car is a friggin' jet fighter. On mediums it comfortably outpaces Ferrari on the supersofts...
Exactly the strategy mix I predicted!f1316 wrote:This is quite interesting.ChrisDanger wrote:http://i.imgur.com/rOm8zok.jpg
You suspect that Mercedes would want to do a one stop on softs then super soft.
But given that they're starting on super softs and Vettel has one new set of softs and one new set off ss, will he try a two stop with SS-SS-S? Is that possible? I agree (believe it or not!) with something GPR-A said in the last race thread that the tyres are generally lasting longer than predicted this year, and it might work in their favour in terms of a well timed safety car (as we saw in the GP2 race).
None of it will make any difference to the outcome, I suspect - even if Ferrari get ahead at the start, I'm sure Mercedes have the pace to get past - but at least we have a bit of variation for a change.
True. And I do not know what this is about, no RedBull driver tried to speak Austrian so far for example...F1NAC wrote:Awkward moment when Mercedes driver speaks italian better than Ferrari driver

The laptimes told a different story. Right before the pitstop Lewis was clearly faster than Nico. It looks like Nico was in real trouble with the tires from lap 19 with laptimes um to 7tenth worse than Lewis. Maybe he went through sort of graining/blistering phase that Lewis had passed after he was no longer stuck behind Bottas. At this time it was the other way round.atanatizante wrote:1. The main reason for that good first stint was that Nico seems to get really well since Spa with the soft tyres and again here in FP1 or Lewis just destroyed his tyres when he was behind the slower cars?
With the need to pass two Ferraris on track??? Come on... and 8 tenth would mean nearly 10 laps only to catch Vettel with still the need to overtake him. With your suggestion he might even miss the podium.atanatizante wrote:2. Why didn`t they switched the strategy for Lewis with a 2 stop one : S-SS-SS ... he seemed to get on well with the SS in FP2, FP3 and especially in Qualy, when he had at least 3 to 4 tenths in every Q compared to Rosberg? and the time between the S and SS tyre worth at least 8 tenths here ...
- Linguistic exercise worthy of Sky to avoid simple reality. No, the main reason Rosberg was quicker (likely on both stints) was that he was quicker. Perhaps your're thinking about Hungary ?atanatizante wrote:1. Wasn't that basic, hold my hand coaching 'everyone' in F1 was disgusted of? New Alonso doesn't know it himself after 33 races or is he intimidated by marbles? No one is of his mediocre driving. Cue cracks in the chassis for starts for him and LH.- "Verstappen is told to keep a car's width away from the edge of the track on the main straight because of the build up of marbles. Lots of tyre debris there at this stage.'
