I think that the louvres create small vortices that merge into one bigger vortex. The velocity field that is induced from this vortex (upwash) helps the wing produce more downforce and prevents stalling.
I know that this is contrary to the common belief that the purpose of the louvres is to balance the pressure difference from inside and outside of the endplate in order to reduce the strength of that vortex and therefore drag. But if that was the case why in low downforce-drag circuits like Monza we see Red Bull running without any louvres at all?
