sure will be interesting season, what with all that has happened this year and the MP23 having a longer wheelbase and self limited development!

Lewis is going to be the number 1 driver, and Heikki with have to support him. Somehow McLaren will figure out a way to make it look equal so they won't have to deal with the negative press they had favoring Lewis over Fernando.

Heikki is screwed, but I think he'll be fast as hell at McLaren. He's good.

After watching the Race of Champions in 2006 I have the feeling that Kovalainen will win in the end, not without McLaren trying its best to promote Hamilton (it's not like Hamilton does not deserve it). It's going to be close.

Heikki failed to finish only the very last race of last season in Brazil. His consistency will be rewarded. But still, Lewis will be the favored driver at the Macca house.

i hope lewis will once again prove to be flawless and extremely focused and heikki will not be far off him with maybe a little more pressure on his shoulders could make a couple of mistakes... thats what is expected so as per usual the exact pposite will happen :D

i think heikki will have an edge over lewis, no pressure for him, he will take things slowly, usually finnish drivers and mclaren have great chemistry.

But Lewis wasn't there - how do you know ;) - Oh - I saw it live BTW ('kin cold)

Seriously though......

Hamilton is clearly very, very good. I think Heikki is better than he showed at Renault; also, he has a great attitude. ROC shows that he can certainly drive - so (also, there was a lot of "warmth" in the applause he got - I think we Brits approve :D), Ron Dennis has a super pairing and Hamilton will shade Heikki at year end by racing better.

P.S. - ROC - I know we love to hate Schuey (well, some do...;)) - but to watch him up close and personal at ROC was a privilege, a truly special driver (reminds me of a young German (Michael someone)I saw in a Group C Mercedes at Silverstone in 1990, before he got a "reputation"; pure genius behind the wheel).

Schumi sure is a great driver and watching him at the ROC takes away any doubt anyone could have... although I prefer seeing him missing the start with a Punto and letting the engine die (you would think that an italian car would make all the job for him, out of respect) or spinning at the last turn of the final, just not to cross the line second! :P

Maybe Heikki wasn't very happy at Renault? I remember Pat Symonds was quoted at around mid-season about how they could calculate that Alonso would get 0.3 sec a lap more out of the R-27, or in other words that their drivers weren't exploiting the full potential of the car. I think there is a little bit discredit in that, maybe it hurt Kova.

Also, MS is not all that good in closed cars and he admitted it. Something about his need to see the wheels. He was unbeatable in those little buggies though.

Personally, I predict Lewis to be faster than Heikki, though not by much, but this season Lewis has shown that he's very good on the throttle. I mean, anyone remember how well he went through the 11-13 complex at Montreal? He was the only one not pushing full TC through that long sweeper, and probably the fastest through there.

Finns are always better drivers than brits, end of story....No actually it ll be damn close, Lewis s car control is good, but w/o TC im not so sure that it ll be better than Kova.

Sorry, I'm not talking about last ROC (which I wasn't able to watch), but two or three years ago, when he was for me "Heikki something".

After that, the decision was easy: not only Kovalainnen won over Schumacher on a Ferrari Modena (that's was the easy part, if you ask me :)), but because Mr. Kovalainen won over Sebastian Loeb, in his first attempt on a rally car.

That doesn't sound that impressive after LAST Race of Champions, where F1 drivers beat soundly WRC drivers. Besides, Hamilton said something about being happy to work with him, which doesn't sound good. On the other hand, Hamilton said a similar thing about working with Alonso, so maybe he will not be THAT happy.
