Scuderia Ferrari SF16-H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Neither Ferrari appeared to use the new turning vanes/bat wing in FP2 and only Vettel ran it in FP1. Either it was only run as a test, or it did not deliver the desired improvement.

Please look into Mercedes aero details and compare to Ferrari.

Ferrari are at least one year behind, in every detail. No wonder they are not winning. :( :( :( :(

I love how all the details are aimed at making the surfaces more 'organic' less box shapes.

The update package (turning vanes, batwing, spliter, front wing) was used in Q3 and will race. The front wing was not ready in Malaysia, so they tested the available parts in FP1 then removed them.

The new package clearly seems to be helping. Only 0.3 down to the Mercedes in Q3 and ahead of the RedBulls indicates the car is pretty good here.

Good pace from Ferrari here and the car looks really good. Is it more of a power circuit (hence Honda and Renault dropping off) or more Ferraris little detail upgrades?

Would be nice if Kimi could jump the Mercs and make it interesting.

How did Ferrari go on the hard tyre on Friday?

Bit of both, it's quite PU based in terms of both power and driveability as there's plenty of mid-high speed sweepers that you accelerate through, but you don't want to run too much downforce to make up for the driveability otherwise you get "GP2 ENGINE! GP2!" on the straights

I think that I didnt see any steady exit from last chicane today. But pace was impressive. Especially at the start. Pitty that team f*cked up both cars
