Red Bull RB12 TAG-Heuer

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

If they're self heating then they'd need some kind of energy source like being connected to a battery and I think we can safely say we don't need to look at the rulebook to say that's illegal :D

I don't think it is anything particularly special. It just looks like some kind of thermal management for example, they're trying to keep heat in the brakes and out of the tyre or vice versa. Perhaps they can change the cake tin based on whether the tyres are getting too warm or are too cool, or the circuit's ambient temperature.

Wouldn't having a fat Kamm tail limit the angle of the underside of the wishbone?

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Well the wishbone's angle is limited by the regulation to 5 degrees (to the reference plane), aspect ratio of 3.5:1 and it must be symmetrical. If you put a fat tail on it then the wishbone's angle would be reduced wouldn't it?
I'm sort of assuming that there's on other advantage to be had other than maximising the AoA to gain downforce from the partially sprung wishbone.

The overall angle of attack doesn't change. You're right, the bottom surface doesn't get to be quite as steep. Looking around, however, it looks like no teams are simply inclining the wishbones to create doenforce. They are either neutral or directing the air to increase efficiency or what have you.

Does anyone have any information about Ricciardo's engine problem?

He was always slower than Verstappen on the long straight.

Ricciardo and Horner have mentioned the 'Fuel flow meter'

Has anyone heard anything concrete about this?

Thanks

I read somewhere that both Ricciardo and Verstappen are to get new power units in Austin. So all should be fine at the next race.

Looks like they've bonded a new lower half of sidepod opening on? Smaller inlets or previous damage?
