Lewis did nothing wrong in the end. Merc personnel should take it as it is. They failed a 3 times world champion in some occasions this year. Mercedes had the Constructors championship since Suzuka so they should have left the drivers race their own way. It was a tremendous drive from Hamilton being able to win it in the end and still slowing the pack down. Mercedes is so far ahead that even with Hamilton slowing the pack down the rest could not capitalise. Hamilton did whatever the legends of F1 like Senna, Schumacher and so many others would have done.

Nice one Toto...18 wins already this year...what's the point in maybe losing one and letting people enjoy Formula 1 a bit more! Not that Hamilton would have let Sebastian thru but ok! Oh and Nico had the option to pass Hamilton but he didn't have the speed apparently... :P

Nah, just Jenson showing how F1 used to be.

Guys. I am closing the thread for a hour. The title has its own topic and it got asked frequently this weekend to keep discussing about the title away from here. I am hopeful that everyone gets the picture after a hour.

I like Lewis more after today. :) I would have done the same and maybe even more.

It was overall a fun one.

I wish Raikkonen could have done more after beating Vettel at qualifying.

Great drives by Hamilton, Max and Vettel.

Nice cameo by Kimi early on but sadly not able to keep it up in this year's Ferrari. It reminded me of his pomp when he was a properly fast racer.

Vettel being very careful in the last few laps not to mix it with Nico. He didn't want to be blamed for any fall out should it have decided the unspeakable thing.

Max just needed a bit more pace in the car and he would have been right in the mix.

Masterful drive Hamilton. That's how you control a race from the front, not just buggering off in to the distance.

Nice race. With Ham going slow through Sector 3 it was quite nice to see the Mercs not disappearing.
RedBulls: No idea, why they pitted Ric so early. They had one car on this strategy, why pit the "strong" car behind the Force Indias and the compromised car??? They lost P3 with pitting Ric behind Ves. Ves had a stupid crash, but his pace against Ros und Vet was good.
Ferrari: They screwed up Rai with pitting him too early. No need to pit early as RedBull already was ahead and running into the Force Indias. On the other hand they did everything right with Vettel. Very nice race by Vettel.
ForceIndia: Nice race, no drama. I was astonished by the early stops, I did not see thread from behind. Wrong? In the end this was a problem with the tires and Massa nearly got them.
Marussia: Nice race, good fight. Cleared both the Saubers.
Renault: Palmer...what a nonsense penalty again. Taking your opponent out by crashing stupidly into him is a 5sec penalty? Alea iacta est.

Nah, just Jenson showing how F1 used to be.
- If F1 was like it used to be Button wouldn't be driving for good six years :D .
- He realised that keeping pay check and pretending that it's not retirement won't get him attention of the last race so he's trying to catch up.
- the last true 'old school' F1 driver was Sutil when he glassed a rich bloke in a night club brawl and what did he get for that,. praise and attention? No: one year break and sentence.

Going back to Abu Dhabi:
- saying that Merc "didn't let them race" (previous posts) is absurd. They let Hamilton do every stupid pointless thing possible until very last lap. Then they let him say every stupid thing after the race. They didn't give Rosberg any of help tools Hamilton was given before when behind (undercut/team orders) on top of a bad stop (costly).

- Rosberg staying behind Verstappen and then overtaking him just like that (could have done earlier) was one of the few interesting moments of this race. Headlines like "strategic thriller' are silly, fake drama.

- Not only did Hamilton lose he did it in pathetic style both on and off track. Spouting nonsense about reliability being the reason we're sitting here like that which is of course not true.

You realise hamiltons 'masterful' drive to go slow in the third sector to back everyone up only to get back up to speed didn't actually work right?

Couple of things from this race.

Verstappen changed his line under braking on Rosberg's attempt.
Palmer is terrible.

Solid last drive for Massa.

He did what he intended which was to get others on to Rosberg's gearbox. Sadly, for Hamilton, that wasn't enough. It was the only thing he could do to try to win the title and he did it as well as anyone could have.

But it was masterful driving because he controlled his team mate's pace. His team mate cried to the team to do something but it was after the pit stops and the team could do nothing.

It certainly made the race one of the more interesting races of the season and we should all be thankful for that.

I think you can call it a masterpiece to keep his tires on temperature still driving more than 1.5sec in S3 slower than the usual pace.
