Another French GP

Post

The French Grand Prix could make a surprise return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2018, with plans for a race at Paul Ricard set to be revealed on Monday.

While several historic races like Germany and Brazil are fighting for their future, France could be set to return to the schedule after a 10 year absence.

According to a report on Europe 1, the event could be organised with the help of several local authorities, including Provence-Alpes-Côtes d'Azur region, the Var department and the city of Toulon.

The contract would cover five seasons, running from 2018 to 2022.

No official announcement has yet been made to confirm the return of the event, but a press conference has been scheduled for next week.

The conference, regarding the future of the French GP, will take place at the premises of the Automobile Club de France in Paris, in the presence of Nicolas Deschaux, head of the FFSA, and Christian Estrosi, president of the regional council of PACA.

I find Modern Paul Ricard kinda characterless with it's big open space design.

Miles of run off areas at Paul Ricard. Drivers must love it! :D

I rather have Magny Cours over Paul Ricard.

It would be a dream if F1 will be at Circuit de la Sarthe.

Or could they make Pau work? Car width has increased, so that's a no I guess.

True, but exactly zero of those races should be at Paul Ricard.

No we don't, it is a world championsp, not european one, a race in India would be much more useful, also an east coast US race(NY or Miami)

Does BE still own cPR?

The Indian GP failed miserably so we all know how that story ended.

USA is still a market on which F1 should grow, but Europe was and always will be the true cradle of F1

The Indian GP did not fail(miserably or not), the promoters/BE/and the govt could not reach an agreement wrt taxes, there is a big difference.

The promoter didn't make enough to cover his tax bill ergo the the Indian gp failed.

I think Paul Ricard's jazzy runoff and hilarious number of configurations is going to make it much harder to follow on TV.
