You take as a point of reference 2007, when McLaren sabotaged Alonso and also spied Ferrari. And still in 2007 they were both much much younger and much much less mature, with Hamilton protected and McLaren unable to give equal opportunities to both drivers and control the situation smoothly.

You take as a point of reference 2016, when Mercedes sabotaged Hamilton... what a difference ten years makes.

The model is fun indeed but has some flaws (like he said in his own comments at the Hamilton piece). What I can tell it's measured against your team mate, the progression in a race and race vs qualifying. In Hamiltons case for qualifying he had a few technical issues that dropped him down the order and the sheer power of the Mercedes meant that he took the long road to the podium in those races (not taking any risks at the start). This compared to Alonso, who had a teammate who performed badly (relative) and with his natural speed, made up quite a few places at the start.
What surprised me more in that respect (and might show the flaw in the way of balancing the drivers) is that Ric is behind Sainz. They are one of the few drivers where there is more data because they shared teammates. In the calculations VES beat SAI, quite clearly but the fight between RIC and VES was very close. It looks more that the downfall of KVY at STR is to blame for this difference.

Wolff said there are only 3 names left on his list.

Alonso : Briatore said no to Mercedes.
Ocon : Mercedes is not talking with Force India.
Raikkonen : He stays at Ferrari.
Vettel : He stays at Ferrari.
Verstappen : Marko said no.
Ricciardo : Marko said no.
Bottas : Wolff and Mercedes are linked with Williams, and he don't want to put Williams in trouble with 2 young drivers.

Wolff wants someone who can help the team to adjust the car, so a driver with experience.

So in my opinion the list is :

Kubica's wrist isn't flexable enough anymore. So for tight corners he needs to sweep his whole arm to turn full lock, there is space in the cockpit for such moves.
