williams at sea?

Post

perso reshuffle at williams and Car update don´t translate into competitiveness.
what´s wrong?
I saw the williams sporting that heavy oscillations of the frontwingassembly (horizontally) still in the silverstone race...isn´t such a huge vibration detrimental to the drivers feel? The front suspension seems incredibly stiff also, but the rear snaps... Ithink they are completely at sea with their setup and now without a chance to test it looks quite worrying for the next weeks ,Montoya trying to wring the cars neck instead of trying to develop the car....

double keel MIGHT stay...
i know that Ferriari said something about being interested in double keel.. but maybe not after this years disastrous season by Williams...

it´s not the keels ..it´s the tusks that will disappear...

I really don't think Williams have done a good job with their front twin keel design, and I am convinced the McLaren implementation is a lot better.

Sure they have a strut in between the two keels, but so what? Air is supposed to be more or less stable there, and maybe that strut can help stabilising it. Furthermore you get a sleek keel design. Williams on their hand have two fat keels, and for what. They can drive without a little strut.

Oh well, twin keels are nice and good for competition, but I am not convinced of its advantages.

The williams nose cone has through this season proven not to be a very good option, and may well be part of history in 2005.

I heard somewhere a while ago that Williams are currently looking at the single keel once again in 2005. I mean in 2003 the FW25 was easily the best car in the whole championship (It just took far too long to get that fast!!!) and it was a single-keel. I think they are thinking that sure in a stright line the twin-keel works best with the tusks, but when turning the tusks move and the keels flex etc etc etc. I think they are going to go back to the single keel....its tired and tested and it works for sure.

The twin-keel works, The MP4-19B has proved that, its just hard to get it to work properly (Stuctual rigidity prblems, pitch sensitivity etc), so I'd like to see it stay. But I'm certain that whether the FW27 is a win or single keel, the tusks will go.
Silence is golden when you don't know a good answer.

the tusks are not stiff enough laterally.and the twtin keel layout dictates frontend geometries with unfavourable camber gains and scrub negating any aero benefits and giving the front tyres and roadholding a really bad time.the mono keel layout is stiffer for weight as well,so I´d say the whole twinkeel thing is a blind alley or would have to need a radical new approach...
