That seems like a tunnel ! Intriguing!

I think that both Sauber and Renault have it. In Sauber it looks like it's covered though. Take a close look in the pictures. I asked the same thing in the other threads.

the shadow is not a tunnel, the is no floor in front of it, the grey that looks like part of the cars floor is actually the rooms floor

the front of the car's floor is raised at an angle and that is what is casting the shadow, and yes, this is also the same on the Renault, as to why I am not sure but Matt Sommers explains in his tech analysis on motorsport.com

I might be late but are these "nostrils" actually tunnels that feed the "s-duct" and exit in a blocked off for the reveal nose hump?

Would there be an advantage for taking the air at the front of the nose rather than under it?

Don't like it at all. The nose, even if it works as intended, is just hideous.

So, they have a tunnel in the sidepods. I can only think 2 reasons:
a. Cooling (?)
b. Feed the defuser.

Unless someone else have a better educated guess on them....

-Front wing clearly delineated between sections in front of wheel and sections inboard-of. Resultingly, the outboard vortex tunnel is wider.

In the AMUS interview Andy Green says they're getting rid of the S-Duct for sure. With the amount of air they're getting with the new nose there's no need for it

Cooling, obviously. Most likely a different, non-standard radiator setup

You guys sure madly want to see a tunnel somewhere.

To my eyecrometer the wheelbase looks shorter (than the other cars so far this year) and to achieve that they've made the sidepods a bit wider.

It's not a tunnel, they're not tunnels on the other cars either, they're just bellmouths before the throat under the floor - a consequence of a wider floor, bigger diffuser and larger bargeboards meaning they need to feed more clean air under there.

The serration on the turning vane is not uniform, unless there is some optical illusion taking place.
Any reason why? Surely you'd want a uniform series, or there will be uneven airflow....unless that's the objective?

The diffuser is very strange, at least in the sense that the edges curve outward instead of trying to form a confined area around the diffuser ramp. Most diffusers are shaped like this /--|--|--\
