Installation lap plus check to see if nothing popped. He'll be out again, don't worry.
Seems not.
Alonso returns to the pits at a crawling pace, with the Honda engine already switched off. He pulls out of the fast lane as mechanics run up the pitlane in case the McLaren can't coast all the way to the garage.

Mclaren probably forgot to put enough fuel in the car. Que Bouillier to complain about the Honda lump not being able to run on dreams alone.

Where is the hysteria surrounding this? Or is that reserved for Mclaren Honda??
We sort of know if the RB13 runs it is likely to be on pace. McLaren has not showed anything encouraging for the last couple of years. McLaren seem to struggle every winter, therefore people are on their backs a bit. From my perspective both Red Bull and McLaren need a good winter. Because, Ferrari and Mercedes are further in their respective testing itinerary.
also: Renault has got three test mules and not just one.

I hope so... apparently the engine was off when he returned to the pits. Worrying.
Yeah ok, so something popped  . They might have rushed this too much. It is strange though: they were able to run the filming day without a single issue. That's 100km.

ALO did only 3 laps, how many Stoffel did I don't know... but they didn't do 100km I think.

Assuming they did the full 100km, with the engine turned up full... no information on that unfortunately.

Alonso is out of the car, so I guess that's it for McLaren for now. I imagine they'll be burning the midnight oil to get back on track tomorrow.

Certainly looks like an all-nighter for McLaren.

Or Honda - if you listen to Eric, it's all their fault anyway...

Just read a mechanic gave Alonso a condolecending pad on the back. Knowing Alonso's patience is running low I wouldn't have risked loosing that hand  .

It does look like chaos at McLaren now. Bouillier should keep the team calm at all times, not instigating a fire no matter who is to blame.

It can only be doom and gloom for Honda. Nobody else can receive criticism.
No one else has done such a bad work, even Renault.

Quite likely, if Red Bull don't pull their finger out. Don't forget Williams either, they're looking very competent.

Lots of anti-McLaren sentiment over on Autosport, describing "another disastrous start to pre-season". I don't think I'd go that far just yet.
