Consistently two seconds a lap quicker than Valtteri was doing yesterday...

Mercedes has found 2 seconds a lap in just one day. :wtf:
there is something in this world called a fuel tank and how much gas is in it.

they are taking the piss. surely 1.21.xxx would have been possible in the end with those low deg. soft tyres.
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

In fairness though, it must be pretty surprising to see a Ferrari behave itself so well after all these years.

Equally, go and read the reaction to the Mercedes car launch (before the thing had even moved) if you want to read people releasing their load...

However you look at it, it is better to be near the top of the times and not at the bottom! And McLaren is not where they should be at this stage. Worse than last year's first test!

as there are glory runs to show how relevant you are in winter testing only to find yourself creating a list of excuses throughout the season and providing alternatives on how races could have been won.

I was joking of course, but I do agree. And Gary did the same for Mercedes previous years. I guess that's why they always give him the same box  .

Lets be honest, it's day 3 and McLaren are still on day one's work schedule...not great but i'm not panicking yet.

We no for a fact their not using the race spec engine, looking at the detail on the floor of the car I'm also pretty confident that's not a race spec floor, unless someones gonna tell me McLaren have forgotten how to make cuts in the side of it?

I'm sure its going to be another trying year for the team & fans, but I'm at least going to give it until Melbourne quali before I start crying winging & complaining like a baby

Thanks for posting this.

If we can compare it to a Ferrari or RB on board.... :?:
My first impression is that the steering inputs are minimal. The cockpit is serene, it does not look like Hamilton is pushing though. It would be interesting to know which lap this was on.
Other than that traction out of slow corners was impressive, as was direction change in the fast left/right sections.

Mclaren looks better than they did last year at least. Renault looks much improved.

Times will inprove lot more.Seems that Ferarri run better on harder compaunds, than Mercedes. Also Red Bull and Renault haven't run yet the red tyres.
For now Ferarri is the best car on track.

My impression is that he's understeering a lot.

There's several corners (all around 4th gear) in which he's having to have 2 or 3 bites at the cherry to get the front end to turn in.

To my eyes the under-steer is marginal, maybe even dialled in.
