No team wants to show their cards in testing so i think he's being modest and giving the usual answer.

I'm happy that McLaren finally did some proper running and i HOPE ferrari have built a rocketship.

There is more, but it is not in the video. Asked about the Ferrari's chances of clinching the title this year his answer was "I don't have a crystal ball. I have two other balls, but they don't tell you much…". :D

Is it me, or do the cars really sound better this year ?

Day 3 best sector times

Image

Compared to last year:
SECTOR 1
22.370

SECTOR 2
30.779

SECTOR 3
28.736

I'm not really sure what's going on in the first sector. Straight line deficit can not account for that much difference. Especially as we've seen in the 2017 vs 2016 onboard, the 2017 car gains literally all deficit back in turn 2 and 3.

Interesting. Watching the side by side video it did seem to pole lap from last year was quicker in the first two sectors... i'll have to watch it again though.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Yes, while the others are running in "race mode" and "quali mode" etc, McLaren are running in "please don't break again" mode also known as "Honda" mode....

(And I'm a McLaren fan....)
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Running engines in low power modes maybe?
