I was wondering about that - sounds sensible and hopefully they won't try and rested so we can get on with some 'proper' testing.

Have a wet testing day for this at a sprinkler circuit.

The Dutch version of gpupdate.net mentions in an article they will soak the circuit again during lunch break, however in their English section, this isn't mentioned.

13 laps for McLaren, funny to see that they are running more tan ever just today. :D

At least drivers are working hard so hopefully they will gather some useful data for Pirelli.

Ferrari was usually looked much better compared to the competition in the FP than in Q and Race because they tend to run lower fuel loads during testing. That was already hyped when Alonso was driving against the RedBulls. This is no miracle, nothing wrong, just a philosophy one should know.
f1316 wrote:It would be one thing if all of this year's cars were planted on rails but this does not appear to be the case and, again, I think Anderson is qualified enough to interpret fuel loads/long runs into that kind of analysis.
There is no qualification for that. The fuel load shifts the weight to downforce ratio. This counts at most in a corner. You can not make up for this ratio with your suspension or whatever, especially not now as everyone still stays away from the curbs. In other words: The observations are useless, because he can not know if it is less weight or more downforce.

turbof1 wrote:...Making it longer is not that hard as Lotus and Virgin have demonstrated in the past. Generally this is done by moving the front suspension forward. The opposite though, moving the suspension backwards, also means shortening the front crash structure.
Would increasing the wheelbase by just moving the suspension forward be of any aero benefit without lengthening the floor? I was under the impression that the aero advantage of lwb cars arise from the longer floor. I would also imagine that increasing the floor length would involve at least a relook at both upstream and downstream aero components and would not be a straightforward bolt-on job.

PS: I'm asking this out of sheer ignorance.

Yeah! He wasn't really excited about today:

Last night Lewis Hamilton said he wasn't particularly looking forward to taking the morning running in the W08: "I heard it’s wet tomorrow, something like that, not particularly looking forward to that. I drove some demonstration wet tyres at Silverstone and they didn’t feel great. And I’m out first unfortunately – I might fake a pulled muscle in the morning and let Valtteri do it!"

A sincere comment but at least he should try to run and try to give some useful information, its the only way they can help Pirelli to improve.

Thanks @Thunders !

yeah for sure he played some trick by burning his car ](*,) because he's the only driver. I heard that Valtteri will run on a electric bike.
