AMUS reports the same:

Im Fahrerlager erzählt die Konkurrenz, dass die Tanklaster in der Mittagspause nur auf Initiative von Mercedes auf die Strecke geschickt wurden. Ein Elektronik-Problem hatte verhindert, dass der Silberpfeil in der Früh Daten auf feuchter Strecke sammeln konnte.
Which slightly proves it was a real fault I would say.

let's see if the glitch is coming back after lunch, or if BOT isn't such a primmadonna. If BOT wil drive in the wet it is crystal clear who's idea this non-running was.

Imagine you came to see him drive.
Aren't most people there to throw stones? Let the new guy do the dirty work.

I've read many times on live that a car passes through pit lane instead of track and then continues lapping without stopping at box. Why they do this?

Look at the woman in the background.
Clearly watching that the vampire doesn't go for Hamiltons neck.

Last time I remembered they sort of turned it around was back in 2011. Absolutely nowhere in Winter testing, but then emerged with a Red Bull diffuser and lots of other updates in Albert Park and become second fastest of the grid.
It looked a lot worst in testing that year because they were trying to use a radical version of the blown exhaust that just kept failing. Once they swapped to a design similar to Red Bull the true performance of the car was realised.

Often when aero testing, set speed on the limiter for verification, check the flowviz is where you want it, etc.

Probably just me, but this kinda looks like F2004 to me:

Which, again just to me most likely, confirms that these regulations have pretty much done their job from an aesthetic perspective.

I agree. The idea that Hamilton is throwing a benny and refusing to go out is just absurd. They'd send Bottas out in that case.
It's just unfortunate that just before these problems came up Hamilton said he thinks it is pointless and that he'd fake an injury.

Hello guys and ladies, how is everybody doing today? Obviously a quiet day on the track. Guess your bosses will not have to fire anyone today for neglecting doing their work  .

Pirelli and the FIA did not really think this through if you have to ask me. Which team would possibly love to drive:
-In generally unrepresentative conditions.
-Knowingly risking the car or parts of the car, especially with factories running at full capacity to get ready for Melbourne.
-Doing the competition any favours by making their vortices visible and that way giving away vital information.

If they were bent on getting proper runs in the wet, they should have enforce under threat of punishment.

"It's good to be the boss." 8)

I wonder if Mercedes figured they would have so much running in already that they'd request a wet session knowing it'd put a kink in the other teams' running. Sounds like a Belichick move if you ask me!

There's a video where they practice starts, when watched in slow motion(0.25) i noticed Red Bull front wing shaking/vibrating/oscillating(not sure which is the right term)...also regarding Red Bull it seems they are the only ones that let under the body air exit in line with exhaust gases. They don't try to pull air down, rather they follow the flow, thus big shoulders and Tag Heuer bulge.
My intentions are not just to say something stupid, i have great respect for everyone that wright here. Please excuse my ignorance.

AMUS: In the paddock competitors revealed that the 'wetting' of the circuit during lunch, was done on sole initiative of Mercedes. A electronic problem prohibited the Silver Arrows from gathering data on the wet track in the morning.

I have come to the conclusion that the McLaren sounds really nice this year.

Fired? not yet...

I tend to agree but its clear that they need to run with those tyres in order to gather some useful data. So, when would be the best moment to do that?
