McLaren's Vandoorne has completed almost 50 laps but on that most recent blast down the straight he encountered a "horrible upshift" reports our man trackside

Oh dear, McLaren cant just have a normal day...

He's still out lapping, so can't be anything serious.

Yup. Almost into the 1:22 range. Looking decent all of a sudden.

Still don't really understand why they bothered with the "wet" testing... even more so considering that they "re-wetted" the track after lunch. Pointless given that everyone's been spinning round on slicks for the last hour.

Wonder why McLaren is doing only 55 to 75 lap. Yesterday too Alonso did about 75 laps and Stoffel is right now on 54. I believe they are still facing some problems else no reason for them to do less than 100 laps.

Not a good day for TR with an engine change. They expect to run the car just for the last minutes. Their car looked good in the presentation but they are not having the best tests so far.

They've been doing short stints today with aero rakes attached, heading back into the pits after 6-8 laps for tweaks. Once the aero and suspension setup is the way the driver wants it, we'll see longer sessions.

*edit* Stoffel now in the 1:22's.

Bit annoying on blogs like autosport to keep going on about if the wet test was usefull and all.
Pirelli must have asked for it and the teams must have agreed , so be it.
Gary and the team could have got on a plane home if they dont care.
Maybe we should mount the tyres on his car and let him test it back home

Interesting little set of short runs for McLaren - Vandoorne has gone out for three very short stints, and has set a new personal best each time. Latest effort was on ultrasofts, for 1:22.721. I'm thinking they're doing a combination of tyre tests and suspension adjustments.

McLaren are doing a combination of timed laps and pitstop practice at the moment.

From the Autosport ticker:
17:15 Mercedes is done for the day (and therefore this test). The team has "found something in the data" it didn't like, so its on-track work is complete.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

I think Ferrari & Marcs has different strategy of testing. They want to go flat out and get the mileage on the car, whereas others are waiting to knock down there a bit. I am slightly disappointed with the amount of lap Force India is doing. They havn't crossed 100 mark yet, even that kiddo Alfonso couldn't get more than 71 laps.

I hope everything is ok there, their pace looks quite good, and looks like they are leading the middle part of the grid..

Hopefully it's just a hydraulic leak or something.
