Perhaps the Williams is a better car than people assume. Maybe they have made great strides with their suspension that aren't obvious from just looking at the thing. It can't all be engine-dependent because the Findia hasn't done much yet.
Maybe Williams are the test mule car

Anyway the speed trap for Massa just skyrocketed to 290km/h, the best so far in testing. maybe merc PU is giving full beans finally? (just turn it to 11 while still doing sustainable program or is that the quali mode rests to be seen)
It all doesn't mean anything...

You know who topped the speed trap last season at Barcelona Qualifying?

Bottas made no improvement on US, 19.355 vs his 19.310 on SS.

I suspect US tyres are not suited to this track... they'll probably come more into play on tight, twisty circuits such as Monaco.

That seems to be a big of a theme.

As I had mentioned in an earlier post, Mercedes need not have to go on the limit. They haven't done it in past winter tests and have no reason to do it. Customer cars do that for PU performance purpose.

This season they might see more action, they'll be in Melbourne for starters.

According to the guy from Autosport you often see a really good S1 but not an overall improvement.

I think it would be crazy not to try. Surely any team would want to make sure all their system work before the first race.

With lots of fuel and harder tyres the performance can be disguised.

From motorsport italian version live:
12:34 Bottas ha montato le UltraSoft, ma ha ripetuto quanto fatto pochi minuti fa: ha fatto il record nel settore centrale della pista, per poi andare decisamente più piano nel primo e nel terzo.
Bottas used UltraSoft, but did the same as few minutes ago: record in middle sector and slowed down in S1 and S3
