I myself are very surprised that all teams use their racing drivers during most of these tests. Most testing is calibrating the sim anyway. Driving lap after lap well within the cars limits checking the aero packet.

And for comparison to other drivers, kimi just didn't drive a lotus at a race weekend because he didn't like the power steering and Alonso doesn't do simulator work...

I wonder if the car has a case of too complex for it's own good. Maybe this complexity limits their developments because of the various knock on effects, where other teams with more straightforward designs have more scope for development.
