Mercedes AMG F1 W08 EQ Power +

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Thanks. So before it was akin to pulling a trigger. Little to no modulation required from the driver. As previously suggested, perhaps the finger divots make it easier to hold the lever in the "10-80%" region.

This being a by-wire control, I wonder if there is still room in the hydraulic curcuit to permit delayed valving of the hydraulic clutch actuator. Or is that what is being specifically outlawed? How can it be proven that there is a linear relationship between paddle movement and clutch actuator movement. Some delay will be inevitable.

From what I've read, they want to eliminate everything that made it easier for the driver to get a good get away. So, they decided the relationship between the paddle and the clutch should be absolutely linear.

Delay is a bad thing, so the teams do everything possible to minimize it.

Not sure, they seem to have shifted the upwards at the rear a little more than anything.

It's hard to tell definitively, but from those shots, that's what it looks like to me as well.

The Sidepod inlets have been refined, and look more contoured than before. Can't say for sure, but the indentations above the sidepod also appear to be more refined.

Test 1 and 2 spec.

The Oz spec has changed from the test 2 spec. The outer edge of the sidepod opening looks pointer at least and the bottom edge of the opening looks more curved.

It definately looks like it's dropped further with a narrowed opening compared to the testing spec, especially if you check it in a photo editor, perhaps it could be the angle/paintwork but I think it is actually changed.

I found the biggest difference. The shoulder cut on top of the side pod inlet is carved in deeper and sharper. Look at the area at the base of the vertical vane.

Amazing, wonder where it will end and how far it will go until FIA clamps down.
