McLaren MCL32 Honda

Surprised how well behaved the car looks.
At a snail's pace any car will look good :( :( :(
Actually Alonso said he´s gone in full attack mode the whole practice session, so no, sorry but your statement is far from true. Do you remember Minardi? They were even slower, and they never looked as well planted, their drivers were constantly fighting with the car

As stated, it´s easy to see that´s a good chassis, drivers don´t need to fight with the car, but I guess nowadays bashing McHonda is too tempting and since their PUs didn´t blow out in pieces as some were expecting...
After seeing FP1, FP2 & Qualifying I agree. The chassis does look quite good !!

By the way it seems they were testing with two variations of the flow conditioners:

I'd say probably pressure measurement points or important geometrical points that need to be measured and in a very accurate position

No they are reference points for slow motion camera capturing. That allows them to observe displacement of components under load. How the heck would you measure pressure with a red dot?

I don't know at which point in the race this picture was taken but that frontwing is damaged (missing piece of upper flap and turning vanes broken). Later on the wing seems to be repaired (probably a wing change during pit stop). So there must have been an incident somewhere. I haven't read or heard anything about it. Since MCL is a backmarker we don't see these things on TV anymore. :(

I also noted the front wing that seemed different, but I'm nut sure it was raced. They did have a different frontwing. That was confirmed in an interview with Stoffel. So at least 3 variations I think.

What i gathered is that Fernando had the new FW and Barge Boards. The Variation Stoffel ran just looks like the "old" Wing with a smaller Top Flap with no Gurney.

Why left top flap in Alonso's FW is shorter than the right one? It's broken during the race, hasn't it? Maybe affecting that brake...

Alonso made 1 stop and it was less than 23 seconds in total pitlane time. If they changed his wing it was a mighty fast change. But yeah, I see that missing portion, but do we have any other pictures of his McLaren showing the portion present?

It appears to be missing before Ocon overtakes and this overtake happened quite a few laps after Alonso's only stop.

Where's the camera? If they are visual reference points, why wasn't a high contrast color used?

In some of the Barcelona testing photos you could see holes drilled through the diffuser, seemingly for pressure or airspeed sensors. Maybe these dots are related.

Was this photo from Aus testing? Or Q? Or race? And why do there appear to be sanding or swirl marks around these dots?
