Scuderia Ferrari SF70H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

In F1 they use morphing CFD mesh for some time now and, coupled with transient simulation, it's not that hard predicting how that piece would behave and even predicting it's frequency. As they kept it like this, flapping all the time since roll out, it's safe to say they believe it is supposed to be doing that (and that it's what they want it to do).
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Maybe it destroys the clean flow over the floor at high speed and decreases the downforce by x%

Front suspension, is that an ARB in between the torsion springs? Damper pushrods on 3rd element?

Also, nice torque wrench, if it's a Snap On I have the same one.

As far as I can tell, yes, those are the ARBs. I made some idle specualtion a few pages back they they might also play a roll in heave: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=25969&p=686234&hilit=stage#p686234

The two small plungers you see I assume would be displacement sensors. Given their size and the size of the arms they are attached to.

New "innovative" floor for Ferrari in Bahrain. Thats probably the reason Aerivabene smiled like that when asked about next weeks race.

Why brake vents on the Ferraris are rotating so much (turning down) under braking?

Didn't Ferrari use this floor in China in the race?

Boring answer? Honeycomb. Fun answer? Heat exchanger. Now what does the floor look like on the other side?

Could be an engine oil reservoir and cooler as well.

Also can be an antenna.. Or part of the battery pack?
20kg of battery can definitely be spread out over that area. Onlything missing is the huge cables going to it. Crazy but possible.

CFD :D

Here you can see the way how sparks reach diffuser. Love the part where diffuser just sucks in in front of rear tyre
